FAQ
What is a verification credit?
One credit is consumed each time the /v1/verify endpoint returns a valid: true or valid: false result for a real policy lookup. Requests that return not_found or an error code do not consume a credit.
Sandbox requests (using pk_test_ keys) never consume credits.
Do unused credits roll over?
No. Credits reset on the first day of each calendar month (UTC midnight). Unused credits are not carried forward.
Can I upgrade mid-month?
Yes. Upgrading takes effect immediately and is prorated to the remaining days in the billing month. You get the higher credit limit and rate limit straight away.
Can I buy additional credits without upgrading?
Credit top-ups are available on Pro and Growth plans. Contact billing@policynumbers.com.
Is there a free trial for paid plans?
Pro and Growth plans include a 14-day free trial. No credit card is required during the trial.
What happens when I run out of credits?
The API returns a 402 with {"error": "insufficient_credits"}. Requests stop being processed until you upgrade or the monthly reset occurs.
